Why an inconvenient convenience store?

In Korea, about 2.63 million people are registered as persons with disabilities — roughly 5% of the population. Yet for those without a disability, the everyday inconveniences they navigate remain mostly invisible.

Visually impaired people may struggle to locate objects or move safely. People with hearing disabilities can find it hard to follow spoken information. Wheelchair users meet physical barriers — stairs, narrow aisles, shelves placed out of reach. People with brain lesions or intellectual disabilities may face difficulty with movement, communication, or processing.

Most non-disabled people don't fully understand these challenges, simply because they have never been inside them. Experiential empathy education changes that — when you live a situation, even briefly, you begin to understand it.

That idea became The Inconvenient Convenience Store: a pop-up where simple missions, set inside the most ordinary of spaces, ask one question — what if buying a drink wasn't easy?
